Afterwards

Twenty years after losing my father, I had the chance to visit my father's birthplace for the first time since my childhood. In the attic of this village house, which is in the process of being demolished, I came across the paintings my father made during his youth. I still cannot define the complex emotions brought about by saying goodbye to that house, which I thought had no place in my life, while simultaneously getting to know it. The wooden suitcase of my grandfather, whom I never knew, the paintings my father made in his youth, and the videos he shot in the 90s, which I took as mementos from that house, became the foundation for this work. This work has become a means for me to get to know, reconcile with, and bid farewell to my roots. These images, which I have recreated by individually exposing each frame using the cyanotype technique, also invite reflection on the ephemerality of the memories we try to bring to life in our minds.
