Foreign Objects
Foreign Objects is a metatextual ghost story that slips between documentary, fiction, and fiction disguised as documentary. When a woman goes missing, only fragments remain: sliced-up Super8 film, daytime TV runoff, corrupted footage, and contradictory testimonies. As these pieces are assembled, a fractured portrait emerges. Interviews feel scripted, yet bleed with real grief. Reenactments crumble into documentary, while documentary slips toward fiction. What starts as an investigation into one woman’s disappearance becomes an interrogation of the media itself. Ultimately the detritus, the glitches, and the images one puts on screen haunt a room in a way that is closer to the western concept of “the ghost” than is depicted in most modern horror. A work of slow cinema, Foreign Objects aims to unsettle the boundaries between timelines, mediums, fictions, and realities.
