RED SCARE

In honor of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, this tone poem by Latinx & queer-goth rapper, luigi asks how the 1968 massacre at the Plaza de Tlatelolco connects to US anti-communist paranoia alive and well today. What do the demonization of Mexican youth, the massacre of the AYOTZINAPA 43, and the lacking news coverage on the US Border Patrol's murder of Mexican youth while still on Mexican soil have in common? Through this pastiche of horrors RED SCARE asks what does the US's sale of military weapons to Mexico have to do with Mexico’s perpetual Narco Wars, Gasolinazo (gasoline crisis), and other neo-liberal atrocities caused in the name of capitalism?
