Self Portrait, Other Portraits and Things starts with a childhood memory evoked by months-long demolition of an apartment building viewed from the rear window of the family home. This memory lost somewhere between dream and fiction and an accident that took place while filming the video, together with recent encounters and coincidences, trigger a state of looking inward. Film traces memory in the memories and implies some sort of a quest for self-analysis. That which is revealed throughout and at the end of this quest bearing traces of both personal and collective memory -of Turkey-, comes into existence as a sound from a poetry, a recurring image or an old film and is preserved beyond corporeal in the space of the dream, memory and the unconscious.
