The Factory
At the horizon just the top of a tree and the chimney of a factory. In the heavens, the clouds blend with the smoke that flows incessantly. This is the start and also the end point for this visual essay, exploring the rhythmic, associative and sensory potentialities of glitch and digital imagery to address the dichotomies between aesthetics and politics, abstraction and figuration, contemplation and thought. At the limit, the film questions how easly the abstract landscapes of the intellect make us lose touch with the concrete reality and our senses of action. The Factory is a piece of minimalist experiment that can best be defined by the Zen notion rescued as the basis of John Cage´s work: from looking repeatedly at the same object, its depth is revealed. In fact, it is also from Zen the proverb that says that in the beginning "the mountains are mountains and the rivers are rivers, in the middle of the way the mountains are no longer mountains nor the rivers are rivers, but in the end the mountains are mountains and the rivers are rivers again", such are the paths of our senses in the search for the understanding of reality.
