Walkout

Walkout

A factory gate opens, workers come out. Walkout revisits the first moving image in cinema, Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory, to examine labor as an inherited, looping condition. Shot on Super 8 and layered with screen interference, the film connects the illusion of movement in film with the illusion of exit in labor, creating a deconstruction of how labor is structured, perceived, and internalized. The film resists linear industrial-colonial time and its false promise of exit. Instead, it opens quantum ruptures: moments where repetition folds, refractions multiply, and possibilities branch. The factory gate becomes not just an entry or an end, but a portal, where historical cycles are both witnessed and disassembled.
