This selection consists of the artists’ first film experiences—initial steps shaped by creative intuition, personal explorations, and a bold affinity for experimentation. Each film carries a fresh perspective that seeks to establish its own cinematic language, remaining open to pushing boundaries both formally and emotionally.
The second First Experiments selection focuses on personal relationships with memory. Through archival footage, old houses, forgotten objects, and reconstructed recollections, the artists trace the past while simultaneously constructing their own cinematic memories.
These works, each no longer than five minutes, generate an intense impact within a brief span of time, constructing meticulous and distinctive cinematic worlds through diverse technical and aesthetic approaches. Ranging from handmade 16mm images to AI-generated sound, from photograms to optical printing, this selection explores cinema’s capacity to continually reinvent itself through playful and magical methods.
